AEC Design Group Wins AutoDesk ‘Platinum Club’ Sales Award

GAITHERSBURG, MD, Apr 9, 2009 – AutoDesk has inducted the AEC Design Group, the developers of CADPIPE and ArTrA software, into their 2009 Platinum Club, an honor held for the top software sales and growth companies in the Americas.

"The Platinum Club inductees have performed at a consistently high level, in spite of the economic challenges," says Steve Blum, Autodesk senior vice president of Americas sales. "They continue to deliver world-class service and technical expertise to help customers fully experience their ideas virtually through Autodesk solutions."

AEC Design Group was specifically recognized for Top ISV Partner Product Sales Growth in North America. AEC attributes this accomplishment to an increased interest in their ArTrA BIM software that works with AutoDesk Navisworks files. “Contractors are starting to realize the benefits of conducting their project coordination, and information management in a 3D environment,” says Paul Hutchins, General Manager at AEC. “This has led to a direct increase in AutoDesk Navisworks sales.”

ArTrA accomplishes this by providing the potential for a virtual information model to be handed from a Design Team (architects, surveyors, consulting engineers, and others) to Contractor and Subcontractors, and then to the Owner, each adding their own additional discipline-specific knowledge and tracking of changes to a single 3D model. ArTrA utilizes a unique interface between 3D CAD models and all facility documentation, allowing users to view, interrogate and link documents to models, without even the need for CAD software. It does this by using a AutoDesk Navisworks engine and so has the ability to extract graphics and the associated design data from all the leading 3D CAD packages.
